Scott Banks, evidently a sadist, enjoys inflicting pain upon the citizens of North Louisiana for he has again employed the services of Henry Cumpton’s Mark Twain for yet another performance Oct, 30 at his restaurant, Lee’s of Le Compte at 319 Louisville Avenue in Monroe.
When asked why, he stated that the last show was such a success that people talked about it for a week and a half. Lots of comments but after Wednesday at noon not a word. Some comments were: “If Henry ever gets it right, I’ll bet it will be good.” “If it hadn’t for the complimentary ticket I would have asked for my money back As matter I think I deserve it for sitting through it anyway.” Some were extremely complimentary though as, “I thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven’t had that good a sleep in months.”
It was well attended. If it had been held in a telephone booth, the place would have been packed. The crowd would have doubled except Henry’s two friends, who were going to surprise him, went to the original Lee’s of Le Compte south of Alexandria.
They were pretty irate and demanded money back for tickets they hadn’t bought. In their defense, you can understand their error for Lee’s of Le Compte has only been in Monroe for eight years.
The last show called The First Annual Mark Twain Retirement Show was only six months ago, When asked about this Scott said he wasn’t taking any chances for Henry is getting a little mature.
