Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson would like to remind all citizens of Rayville of the importance of appearing in court when you have been arrested or given a traffic citation.

“Anytime that you are arrested, you will receive a court notice that tells you the date and time you are scheduled to appear in court,” the chief said. “If you are given a traffic citation, your court date will be written on the citation.”

Chief Robinson stated that failure to appear in court as scheduled will result in a bench warrant being issued which will lead to an additional arrest and and more fines.

If you don’t pay your fines before the scheduled court date, then you must appear in court. Chief Robinson advised that anyone who has already missed a scheduled court appearance should contact his office and speak to the warrant officer to make arrangements to resolve the outstanding warrants.

Chief Robinson would also like to advice all citizens that when you have knowledge of the commission of a crime, whether or not you were involved in it, you must bring that the attention of the Rayville Police Department.

“Having knowledge about a crime can, in some cases, lead to being charged as an accessory,” he said. “It’s very important that you report any criminal activity you are aware of to me or one of my officers.”

The chief also advised that you may call the investigation division and give information confidentially as well.

Chief Robinson encourages all citizens to come by the Rayville Police Department at 900 Harrison St. or to call 728-4431 if you need his help in any way.The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of Nov. 26 through Oct. 2.
