The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of Aug. 10-17.
• Courtney Griggs, 22; 201-B William Roberts Drive, Rayville; no driver’s license.
• Larry Battle, 50; 509 Ford Ave., Jackson, Miss.; no occupational license .
• Carlos Jones, 30; 320 Broadview, Jackson, Miss.; no occupational license.
• Christine White, 46; 1576 West McKee St., Jackson, Miss.; open container.
• Stacey Acklen, 31; 315 Crawford St., Rayville;
child endangerment (two counts), expired drivers license (over 6 months) and improper lane usage.
• Alyssa Reed, 17; 32 Plum Tree, Rayville; simple trespassing.
• Two juveniles were arrested this week. One was charged with remaining after forbidden and one with curfew violation.

The Rayville Police Department issued a total of nine traffic citations this week. That number includes five for speeding and one each for no proof of insurance, failure to yield, wrong way on a one-way street and running a stop sign.

Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson would like to remind all citizens of Rayville that you must apply for and obtain an occupational license in order to do any sort of business inside the city limits.
“Legally, you can’t just set up a stand on the side of the road or even approach people in parking lots with items for sale,” said the Chief. “It is your responsibility to contact the appropriate licensing department at town hall and determine whether or not you are required to obtain a license and then to obtain the license if you are required by law or ordinance to do so.”
Chief Robinson advised that operating a business within city limits without the proper license could result in criminal charges and fines.
