The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of Aug. 3-9.

• Aiesha Reed, 32; 107 Spruce St., Rayville; theft.

• Demarcus Thompson, 19; 114 Margaret St., Rayville; damage to property greater than $100.

• Cinderella Nobles, 70; 41 Hendrix Road, Mangham; no driver’s license.

• Marvin Wilson, 32; 201 Acel St., Rayville; disturbing the peace (general).

• Onyae Johnson, 22; 1001 Madeline St., Rayville; hit and run.

• Glen Smith, 46; 1902 Louisa St., Rayville; theft Less than $300.

• Two juveniles were charged with simple trespassing.

The Rayville Police Department issued a total of 19 traffic citations this week. That number includes 14 for speeding, two for no driver’s license in possession and one each for no proof of insurance, no child restraints and failure to yield.

Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson would like to remind all motorists that schools in the area will be starting their new school year on Thursday, August 13, 2015.

“Motorists, be especially alert for school buses stopping to load and unload children,” the chief said.

Chief Robinson also commented that motorists should be sure to obey all posted speed limits, especially in school zones.

Chief Robinson also would like to wish the students a happy and successful school year.

“Education is vital to a successful future,” the chief said. “Parents need to take whatever steps are necessary to keep your children in school and assist them in successfully completing their courses of study.”
