Rayville author Cliff Dodge has just published his first children’s book: Swampette.
“It’s a little children’s story I wrote,” Dodge said. “I based it on baby swamp rabbit that I caught once.”
The book opens with Swampette, the baby swamp rabbit, being rescued from coyotes by a boy named Cajun Joe and being adopted by a family of cottontail rabbits on his farm.
She grows up with adopted family until she is old enough to return to the swamp as an adult rabbit. Swampette is then faced with all the fears that lurked in the vast, dark swampland.
She would have to learn to overcome the unknown fears in her new life. This would be only one of the things she would come to learn from her adopted family.
The book is 108 pages long and available in paper back for $17.99 or as an an e-book for $13.99 from Tate Publishing at www.tatepublishing.com. Those purchasing the paperback also receive a code which allows them to download Swampette as an audiobook.
Dodge said he already has another five books in the works.
