Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson advised all parents that it is their responsibility to monitor the activities of their children.
“We as a community have systems in place to help you keep your children out of trouble,” said the chief, “but ultimately, it is your responsibility as a parent to be aware of where your children are, who they are with and what they are doing.”
Chief Robinson reminded parents that they can be held legally responsible for their children’s involvement in criminal activity and can even incur criminal charges themselves in some instances.
Chief Robinson also advised all citizens of the importance of appearing in court when they are scheduled to do so.
“Failure to appear in court as scheduled will result in additional charges and fines,” said the chief.
Chief Robinson stated that if you are scheduled to appear in court and are unable to do so, it is your responsibility to contact the Rayville Municipal Court judge and inquire about rescheduling your court date.
Chief Robinson encourages all citizens to come by the Rayville Police Department at 900 Harrison St. or to call 728-4431 if you need his help in any way.
