The Louisiana Legislative Rural Caucus announced the election of officers for 2015-2016.
District 32 State Senator Francis Thompson (D-Delhi) has been re-appointed by caucus Chairmen Jack Montoucet (D-Crowley) to serve on the Louisiana Rural Caucus Executive Committee.
“I have been involved in the work of the caucus since its inception. It is my honor to continue that service and to support the work of caucus members to make a difference in rural Louisiana,” Sen. Thompson, who chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture and Rural Development, said.
In addition to chairing the Senate agriculture committee, Sen. Thompson serves on the Senate Commerce, Consumer Protection and International Affairs Committee, the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget, and the Senate Select Committee on Homeland Security. He is also an interim member of the Senate Finance Committee.
The Louisiana Rural Caucus is an organization to promote and better the conditions and objectives of rural areas of Louisiana. Its membership includes 87 legislators from around the state.
