Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson would like to remind the citizens of Rayville that local schools will be back in session soon.

“Motorists will need to be alert for children walking to and from school,” the chief said. “Motorists also need to watch for school buses stopping to load and unload children. And please be especially careful to observe the speed limit in the school zones.”

Chief Robinson also advised that parents should discuss safety with their children.

Make sure your children know to be careful when walking near roadways on their way to and from school,” he said. “Talk to them about no talking to strangers or getting into cars with people they don’t know.”

Chief Robinson also advised that he and his officers will be diligently working to keep schools safe for all students.

Chief Robinson also advised that the Rayville Police Department will adopt a zero tolerance policy toward bullying this school year.

“Bullying is very damaging to its victims,” Chief Robinson said. “My office will be working closely with school administrators to make sure that our children don’t worry about being victimized in this way.”

Chief Robinson encourages parents to talk to their children about bullying -- let your child know that bullying is not acceptable. Encourage them to speak with an adult if they our their friends are being bullied.

Chief Robinson encourages all citizens to come by the Rayville Police Department at 900 Harrison St. or to call 728-4431 if you need his help in any way.
