Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson advised all citizens of the Town of Rayville that having stolen goods in your possession is a crime and will result in criminal charges, fines and possibly incarceration.

“You should beware of purchasing things from someone you don’t know or from someone you do know who has a history of theft,” the chief said.

Chief Robinson stated that anyone who has purchased something and has suspicion that the item could be stolen should bring the item to Rayville Police Department for review and investigation.

Chief Robinson would like to remind parents that they can and will be held responsible for the activities of their children in regard to criminal activity.

“As a parent, you are responsible for knowing where your child is, who his of her friends are and what sort of activities they are involved in,” the chief said.

Chief Robinson advised that juveniles who are arrested must have a parent or guardian present while being interviewed or arrested.

“If at that time we determine the crime could have been deterred by greater parental involvement, the parent may be arrested and charged accordingly,” he said.

Chief Robinson encourages all citizens to come by the Rayville Police Department at 900 Harrison St. or to call 728-4431 if you need his help in any way.
