Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson would like to remind all citizens of the importance of cooperating with law enforcement officers in the event of a traffic stop or an arrest.

“If you disobey, actively resist, or give false information to the officer, those actions could result in criminal charges, fines, and possibly even incarceration,” the chief said.

Chief Robinson stated that encounters with law enforcement officers will go quickly and smoothly if you cooperate with them while they are questioning you.

Chief Robinson would also like to remind all citizens that there are city ordinances governing the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages in public settings.

“You may not have an open alcoholic beverage container in your vehicle at any time,” the chief said. “It is also illegal to have an open container or to consume alcoholic beverages in any public setting other than those who have a license to sell alcohol.”

Chief Robinson stated that violation of these ordinances will lead to arrests, fines, and possibly even incarceration.

The Rayville Police Department participated in a ceremony on Monday in honor of the brave Veterans of the US Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country.

“Our hearts go out to the families of these brave men and women,” the chief said, “and to all those who have lost loved ones in the course of protecting and serving.”

Chief Robinson would like to acknowledge and thank Governor John Bel Edwards and Major General Glenn Curtis for attending and participating in the memorial.

“We need to always remember that the freedom we so often take for granted was won and defended by the lives of so many who came before us,” he said. Chief Robinson encourages all citizens to come by the Rayville Police Department at 900 Harrison St. or to call 728-4431 if you need his help in any way.
