Delhi High School held its 161st Commencement Exercises on Wednesday, May 11.
The school was elated and extremely blessed to have Dr. Richard D. Smith, Jr., MD, former graduate of DHS, to deliver a dynamic and inspirational address to the graduating class of 2016. Smith was introduced by his best friend since first grade, Dr. Kenneth Nash, DDS, former graduate of DHS.
Smith reflected back on walking across DHS’ stage and receiving his high school diploma. He encouraged graduates to always be proud of where they came from. Smith recognized and thanked his former DHS teachers, including his mom, Olivia Smith, for playing such an integral role in his success! Smith concluded his speech with a famous saying from Dr. Seuss’ Oh, the Places You’ll Go! And a line from the song, “It is Well with My Soul.”
“We are honored to have had both of our very successful Delhi High School alumni, come back home and partake in such a momentous event,” stated Interim Principal Barbara Turner.
