Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson would like to admonish all motorists to stop texting while driving. Chief Robinson stated that anything that distracts the driver’s attention from the road should be avoided at all costs.
“There is no phone call or text message that is important enough to endanger your life,” the chief said.
Chief Robinson advised that any driver observed texting while driving will be stopped and cited accordingly.
Chief Robinson also advised parents of the importance of providing proper supervision for their children.
“As a parent, you should know where your children are at all times,” he said. “You should know who your children are associating with also.”
Chief Robinson advised that parents should make sure there is a responsible adult their children can go to for help in the event that the parent is unavailable.
Chief would also like to thank his staff for making possible the time of commemorative prayer this past Monday to mark the commencement of National Law Enforcement week. Prayer was held at the Sgt. Thomas Alexander memorial monument. Sgt. Alexander and DEA Officer Terry Watson were both honored at that time for their sacrifice in their calling to protect and to serve.
“My gratitude goes out to my officers, all family members and the public who attended and participated in this heartfelt event,” the chief said.
Chief Robinson encourages all citizens to come by the Rayville Police Department at 900 Harrison St. or to call 728-4431 if you need his help in any way.
