Bouef River Chapter, NSDAR, held their April meeting at the Northeast Louisiana Veteran Cemetery, south of Rayville, on Monday, May 18.

Hostesses were Dora Heath and Carlette Cooper.

Members and guests enjoyed delicious refreshments in the social period prior to the meeting.

Regent Angela Hales called the meeting to order and led the DAR ritual. Guest Charles Darnell, member of the American Legion, led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

The program for the meeting was the memorial service for Francine Fowler Evans. Following retirement, Francine became active in several community groups. She enjoyed serving on many projects. Two of her sisters, Carolyn Brown and Jeanie Ramsey, were present for this memorial. Members also shared memories of friendship.

Following this ceremony, a business session was held.

This location is very special in many ways. It honors our veterans who have been so important to all of us and is very beautifully landscaped and maintained. Richland Parish is very blessed to be able to have one of the few sites. Thanks again to the Franklin family for giving the land.

Charlotte Sims is the secretary for the Bouef River Chapter, NSDAR.
